Spooktacular October at Little Mis -Fit

Hey Guys,

Right I feel I have said this so often this year , but honestly I can not believe another month is almost over!. I mean its October next week! – October ! . Though I admit , I do love Halloween month, I’ll will definitely be gong in the loft to get my Halloween décor out in the next week or so . I got some fab Halloween mugs last week from Tk MAX. – what about you guys? – do you decorate your home for Autumn/Halloween? . if you follow me on Instagram @littlemisfitjojo- I’m sure I’ll be doing some Insta stories on my autumn/Halloween décor.  

October at Little Mis-Fit we will see some timetable changes! . Injecting some new classes.
We will be bringing Barre classes to the time table . Barre is a combination of taking ballet moves and fusing them with pilates and yoga moves to help strengthen and tone the entire body and we can also make it a HIIT style workout too – welcome to Barre BURN!!. If any of you would like to get a pair of 1kg weights to bring along to these classes , to add in an extra challenge to the workout, then it would add an extra challenge.
You can get these from Sports Direct, Argos , Amazon etc. Don’t worry you will still be able to do the classes without these , it just adds that little extra to your workout and of course Christmas party dress season is right around the corner . I am also
going to bring a boxing style class back on a Saturday morning , as we have been boxing past couple weeks and I know some of you miss it.

We will also have a Small group training starting Mid October , which will take us to the end of November – right in time for Party season. Please let me know if you would be interested in a place.

Pilates Small Group will also be back Mid October though this often sells out pretty quickly!.

From January , I will also be looking at running some day time Small group sessions so please let me know if this would be something you would be interested in. these will be in addition to the evening sessions.

We will also be doing a Halloween special Family Yoga class on Saturday 27th October!. Of Course Halloween fancy dress will be highly encouraged!.

We also have a couple daytime slots for 1-1 Pilates sessions . These can be done 1-1 , or maybe a couple friends or with your mam/sister etc. get in touch if you would be interested

Little Mis-Fit’s Greatest Adventure yet …….

So this week,  my little community fitness business – Little Mis-Fit  turns 8 years old!!!.   

 

 

I look back 8 years ago , at the hopes and dreams I had when I set out on my journey and honestly can’t believe how fast the time has flown by, and how much my little dream has grown and become my reality .  

I had always loved Exercise. I started running in primary school – one of the teachers used to take a group of us out on a Friday lunch time. Throughout Secondry school, I was on the cross country team and I loved PE.  Now I was on the Cross country team, -but honestly  I was so not the best runner at all but what I did have was the determination to try and to keep trying. I would train with the team each lunch time, I went to running club on a Tuesday and Thursday night  and just practiced and practiced. I just really enjoyed it and I got faster and fitter.  So when I left school the Career advice lady who came to school, suggested I may want to go into the fitness industry, at that time though I wanted to travel and sport was something I did because I enjoyed it , what if it was my job and I came to hate it??.   so I became a travel agent!. 

In 1995, at the age of 16, I left school after my G.C.S.E’s to enroll on a YTS (youth training scheme ) as a trainee travel agent – I wanted to travel the world .  I liked the job but there was just something inside that told me , this was not really what I was meant to do  .   I have travelled to some amazing places and even got to work in Las Vegas a couple of time so when I was  in my early twenties  which was pretty cool. 

Over the years however I did keep coming back to the idea of teaching classes. Finally in 2010  as the age of 30 , I found a local course and decided to go for it. Now not many people know this but in actual fact I signed up to do my Pilates course first!!!, then changed my mind and switched to the group fitness course instead.  It was over 10 weeks and it was a tough 10 weeks!!. It was the first time I had studied in a long time and I was working full time and at college on a Sunday all day and trying to juggle the homework and choreography practice. Ha all that juggling though would stand me in good stead for all the juggling I do now!.  I remember having a week off travel work , during the middle of it though and it was a lovely sunny day and I was sat in my garden , studying – thinking this could be my life! My life could be not being stuck behind a desk all day in a stuffy office for 8 hours , 5 days a week , but instead have the freedom of  doing a job I loved and working more flexible hours.  8 years on , I am achieving that dream!.  A couple years ago, I did eventually get around to  doing  my Pilates course aswell hurrah!.   From that first moment of teaching – I knew I had found it – the job I was meant to do!. It just felt right

After getting my Group fitness qualification – I set up a Class on a Monday night in a local church hall. Back then I think I was on Facebook but no clue really how to use it . In fact I didn’t really know much about running a business at all! . When I was 24  and saving for my first house, aswell as my travel job though , I worked as a Virgin Vie make up rep – so I would go round delivering parties selling make up – as a make up junkie  this was actually a bit of another dream job too , getting to play with make up and being paid for it ha.   Hmmm actually I wonder if Charlotte Tillbury or Mac would be interested in me doing a little side work for them …………………. .  Anyhoo I digress but actually being a Virgin Vie rep I did learn a couple things about marketing and running a business so I was not totally clueless  as I learned about keeping my accounts and a bit about marketing but there would be so much more to learn.   

It has not always been an easy journey – so many people think being their own boss is much easier than working for someone else. In actual fact its so much harder.  I’ve tried things that didnt work  out but there have been plenty things that have worked out and I genuinly love what I do . In recent years I have also started working with kids – doing Yoga  , which is actually not something i ever set out to do, It was a little detour but again something I really enjoy so definatly a case of  Serendipty    (FYI totally love that movie!!) 

I am truly truly grateful  to each and everyone of you that has been part of the Mis-fit journey over the past 8 years – some of the people in that very first class, are still with me today  and the same with my second class I set up a couple months later – they are also still with me.    Without all you guys coming to classes and helping spread the word,  Mis-Fit would not be what it is today. You guys inspire me to keep going , to keep teaching classes  , to keep learning new things to increase my knowledge and keep classes fresh and fun.   I love our little Mis-Fit community we have created , with friendships formed and the craic in the classes . I can have had a really stressful day at the 9-5 and all I want to do when I finish is curl up on the settee and watch netflix, but I know the minute I stand up in class and start teaching you all , sharing in the banter , laughing , Its the perfect medicine and I love that I know its the same for you guys too.  You can have loads going on at home/work but you show up for class for some You time and we help you feel better too.  

Huge thank you aswell to my mam, dad and sister who  are my constant cheerleaders, cheering me on and supporting me and my friends who do the same and who understand when I can’t always play out because my working hours are so different to theirs but they are always there. 

 

My Big goal was always to aim to make Little Mis-Fit my full time job. As I got more Qualifications and grew my classes , I was able to reduce my days at my travel job from 5 days to 3 days and last December I actually dropped down to 2 days. However having returned from Holiday this  Summer and having talked about it forever and with the support of my family and friends all cheering me on , I made the huge decision to take a leap of faith and take Mis-Fit full time – eeekkkkkkk!.  S*#t just got real people!!!!!!!.   So from December 2018  – Mis-Fit is full time!!!! . 

Maybe it will work out , maybe it won’t   –  that determination I had when I was starting out running , that has always  stayed with me   and I have every determination to try and make this succeed too -Either way I have to at least try – after all the magic happens when you step outsode your comfort zone!  .   I believe at least trying  ,  will be Little Mis-Fit’s  greatest adventure yet!.

Autumn at Little Mis Fit

Welcome to September at Little Mis-Fit! .  I do love Autumn time – it always feels a little magical. This year in particular , there are some changes afoot at Little MisFit HQ, exciting ones but also a little scary eek! .  I’ll be keeping you all updated though. 

Pilates and Prosecco event

Summer Lovin’ At Little Mis-Fit

 

 

Hi guys , 

so This Thursday 21st June is the first official day of Summer!!!!. Hurrah Long summer days  ahead , hopefully plenty of sunshine too.

Summer is actually a busy one here at Mis-Fit HQ. We have  lots going on over the summer. Though I am taking a little holiday 20th August – 28th August , so classes during this time.  

Just a reminder , I am also away next weekend so no classes Thursday 28th June- Monday 2nd July. Classes will be back Tuesday 3rd July.  I will also be away Saturday 21st July.

Our Summer Programmes – below is our list of happenings over the Summer, including our Pilates and Prosecco events, our Summer yoga Club for the little ones and our Small Group training programme over the summer. Plus our Summer class timetable.

Pilates and Prosecco Event – Saturday 7th July -12noon-2pm @ Blackhill Community centre 

Come Join us for our Pilates and prosecco event . We will do an hour or so of Pilates and then crack open the Prosecco and enjoy a glass or two or three . A little Summer Soiree .  Just £25 per person.  A £10 deposit is required at time of booking , and the remaining £15 can be paid on the day in cash or beforehand via Bank Transfer.

Summer Yoga club for kids 

We have joined forces this summer with our friends at Believe and Be, to offer a Summer Yoga club for kids age 4-7. 

I know some of you mams struggle with childcare over the summer holidays and/or just need something to keep them entertained and keep your sanity intact haha.  

Our Summer Yoga club is currently operating on the following dates :-

Monday 23rd July, Monday 30th July, Monday 6th August and Monday 13th August   1130am-3pm. 

£18 per child per session or prebook all 4 sessions for just £60. 

Drop them with us at 1130am , they will then get a 90 minute session in Believe Town,  followed by a picnic lunch (provided) and then Yoga/crafting session.  You can them collect them at 3pm.

spaces are limited , so do please book asap to guarantee a space.

 

Small Group Pilates 

Our Summer small Group Pilates session is running from Saturday 7th July – Saturday 18th August . £100 per person for the 12 sessions or £50 person for 6 sessions ( you can do just Tuesdays or just Saturdays or even mix them if you will be away for a week or so during the programme )

The Mis-Fit Pilates and Prosecco Event

In this two hour class , we will be doing an extended Pilates class with plenty toning and strength work along with some lovely relaxing stretches. We will then follow that up with a couple glasses of Prosecco !.

Introducing Virtual Classes & our Pilates and Prosecco event!

I hope you all had lovely bank holiday weekends! .

Virtual Classes

So this Friday 1st June will see the launch of our Brand New Virtual classes! .  I know some of you do struggle sometimes to get to classes, due to Work and/or childcare etc, so these will be classes with me ,  which you can do from home as and when you can.

For just £10 per month, you will get access to a Private Facebook group where I will be posting up workouts a couple times a week for you to access. Some will be Facebook Lives , which means I'll be streaming live, but don't worry if you can't make it as the Live workouts will still be saved into the group for you to access.

If you would like to sign up - just drop me a message and once paid , you will then have access to the private Facebook group and we will kick off this Friday - June 1st.

Pilates & Prosecco Event

I will be hosting a Pilates & Prosecco Event on Saturday 7th July 12noon-2pm.  The venue is most likely going to be Blackhill Community Centre. Am off there next week to finalise it :-).

£25 per person and we will have a Pilates session and follow it up with a glass or two of  Prosecco! .   A chance for us to carry on the class chatter after our workout , with the added bonus of Prosecco too.

to guarantee your spot it will be £10 per person deposit and then the other £15 you can pay on the day.

June at Little Mis-Fit

Hey Guys,

I can not believe its June next week!!!. This year really is zipping over so fast!. Thank goodness the weather has improved though eh?.  It looks like its going to be another gorgeous bank holiday weekend , fingers crossed!. 

June Updates 

I am away Thursday 28th June – Monday 02nd July so no  classes during this period. 

We have made a change to our Thursday classes . PIIT is a firm favourite on a Tuesday so  on a Thursday we are going to do an hours Pilates class – this will be split into 2 halves – 30 minutes PIIT style and 30 minutes Pilates stretch and relaxation.  so you can chose to do the full hour or just one of the 30 minute blocks. 

Fridays  we may do the same so Friday night crew , please let me know your thoughts!. 

Introducing Virtual classes!!!!  

In June, as well as our regular classes, We will also have virtual classes! . I know some of you struggle sometimes getting to classes due to work commitments, childcare etc  so  having access to workouts you can do at home or on the road when you are travelling will hopefully make up for when you can’t get to our regular  classes. 

Just  £10 per month and you will get access to our private Facebook group where you can access the videos. some will be pre- recorded and others we will do Facebook live workouts together ! .  There will be at least two new workouts each week . It will be a mix of HIIT, Pilates,  stretches , PIIT  , weights , cardio , and  core classes.    If you would like more information or would like to sign up ready to start June 1st  , then drop me a message or see me at class! .

Due to the 2 bank holidays in May , and I’m away Monday 14th May , there will be no Monday evening after school yoga class during May. We do however still have our Wednesday class running 4.15pm-5pm at Believe and Be, Consett.  For kids age 4- 9.   £25 per child for the 4 weeks. 

Family Yoga class – Saturdays 1015am-11am @ Delves Lane Village Hall .

Our family yoga class is doing great, and its a brilliant way for parents and their little ones, to do a class together .  We have 4 more sessions left of the current block – we finish Saturday 19th May,  For kids age 4- 11  £7 per session pay as you go . 

We will be starting another block in June aswell :-). 

Pilates for mams with Toddlers  

Our Wednesday Morning Pilates class for mams with Toddlers is a  brilliant chance for mams with little ones, who don’t always get the chance to get to class, to come along to this toddler friendly class.  The toddlers are happy playing with all the toys, whilst the mams get in a workout, that helps strengthen their core muscles,  and helps tone and strengthen their body, whilst also getting a good stretch. 

Baby Yoga is on a break during May , but will be back in June! 

 

Virtual Classes 

 I know some of you struggle to get to classes sometimes due to work /childcare etc , so in May, I am also introducing Virtual classes! . These will be delivered via a private Facebook group, and so you can do them at any time you can squeeze in your workout.Maybe for you its first thing on a morning, before everyone else wakes up, maybe its after the school run or maybe its late at night, when ever it is, you can just log in the group and select a workout!.    Just £10 per person for May!. Relaxation and Rejuvenation workshop – Saturday 21st April

Along with my friend Marie, we are running a Relaxation and Rejuvenation workshop , on Saturday 21st April.1215noon-2.15pm at Langley Park. £25 per person. 2 hours of a mix of Pilates and Yoga moves to help stretch you out and unwind. Please get in touch if you would like to book a place.

April Class Timetable and Fitness programmes

April we have new classes and so much going on, so I though I would detail it all for you.

Our New classes are :-

10/10/10 – 10 minutes of cardio, 10 minutes of strength and conditioning and 10 minutes of abs.

Fat Blaster – A 30 minute high intensity class to burn fat and have you ready for summer!.

Me Time Pilates – A 30 minute Pilates class on a Friday evening to end the working week with a good stretch and de stress , going into the weekend a little calmer!

Family yoga class – starts Saturday 14th April for 6 weeks at Delves Lane Village Hall. 1030am-1115am . £40 for the 6 weeks , which is for 1 adult and 1 child age 4-11. or you can pay as you go £8 per session for 1 adult and 1 child. additional adult/children per family charged at £2 per session.

Virtual Classes

I am also looking at running some Virtual classes – This would involve a private Facebook group where I would post twice weekly workouts for those times when you struggle to get to classes , you can do a Mis-Fit workout at home :-). This would be £10 per person per month , if you wanted to sign up. Please let me know if this is something you would be interested in.

Mams and Tots classes

Our next round of mam and baby/tots Pilates classes start again in April as follows:-

These classes will help mams to strengthen their core muscles, ease tight muscles from carrying and feeding baby. Its also a class you can bring your little ones too, so no worries about finding childcare.
