Day 2 – A morning stretch

Happy 2nd December,

If you follow me over on Instagram- @littlemisfitjojo

or our Facebook page  lilmisfit1

you can check a 5 minute Stretch workout I have shared. It’s a great wake up for the body, or could even be used as a wind down at the end of the day. 💕

for some reason it won’t let me share it on here! So I need to speak to my Tech wizard friend! .

Self Care September- Switching off

Day 4 of Self Care September .

Bank holiday weekend I totally unplugged for 4 days – I put my phone away and only checked it for calls/texts a couple times a day and actually didn’t go on any social media at all for the whole 4 days. Instead I just enjoyed the glorious sunshine, read books and was just fully present in my own life. It’s been such a busy year with both work and celebrations and so to be able to fully switch off for a few days felt amazing. I really did feel so much better for it and as a result I have been more mindful of how much time I spend just idle scrolling social media ever since which in turn has made me much more productive. We all do it, don’t we – just have a “5 minute scroll” and before you know it at least half an hour has passed!.

So this week I am challenging you to unplug for one whole day – are you up for the challenge?? Give me a 💕or comment below if you are! .

Self Care September- Nutrition

Day 3 of our Self Care September challenge and today it’s nutrition 💕.

When we make healthier choices when it comes to our nutrition, we really do feel so much better and have more energy.

Did you know Salmon is a mood boosting food?. So if you are feeling low , and /or struggle with Anxiety and depression it can help to boost your mood! 💕. I’ve served mine here with some Mixed salad leaves , some mini Mozzarella balls and some salsa for an easy , quick healthy tea .

Other mood noosing foods include-

💕 Blueberries

💕Avocado

💕mussels

💕 Dark Chocolate – good quality dark chocolate such as Green and Blacks or Lindt and opt for 85-90% cocoa

💕 Green tea 🍵

💕 leafy greens such as spinach and Kale

💕 Walnuts

💕 chicken and Turkey

💕 eggs

Are any of the above on your menus for today? 😀.
.

Self Care September- The importance of Sleep

Welcome back to Self Care September and today we focus on Rest.

Getting enough sleep has so many benefits including-

💕 helps our bodies repair and restore themselves

💕 helps boost our mood

💕helps our metabolism function more efficiently.
.
💕 helps the mind and body to de stress

💕 boosts our immune system

We are all unique, so as individuals we all require different amounts of sleep to help us function at our very best . For the majority of us it’s around 7-8 hours per night. This next week though just take note how much sleep YOU need in order to feel your best . Obviously new mamma’s need lots of sleep but don’t usually get much at all! In which case try and nap when baby does or at least try and make the sleep you do manage – good quality sleep!.

Here are a few tips though to help us all get a good nights sleep 💤.
.

😴 create an evening routine. Try and go to bed and wake up around the same time each day so your body can get in a routine.

😴 Declutter your bedroom and create a calm peaceful environment that makes you feel relaxed just walking into the room. I have of course added Fairy lights and candles in mine – I love being cosy 😂.

😴 put down your phone!!!. I think most of us are guilty with this one – one last scroll of social media before bed 😳. But this next month , let’s try and put down our phones an hour or so before bed and allow our minds to totally switch off and see what difference it makes to your sleep!. Try reading instead and/or a little meditation.

😴 try and write down your to do list for the next day before you switch off so you can get it all out of your head – do a brain dump, so you can empty your mind .

😴 create a little routine for yourself- maybe a relaxing bath or shower , removing your make up , reading a book or listening to some relaxing music – anything that helps you unwind and relax and prepare for sleep and FYI that glass of wine does not count!!! 😂.

Sweet dreams Mis Fitters 💕.
.

Welcome to Self Care September!

The six best doctors – Fresh air , water, nutrition, exercise, sunshine and Rest 💕.

Join me throughout September as I share some tips and ideas on how we can include a little bit of self care into our everyday lives. Give me a ❤️ if you would like to join in!.

Day 1 we are focusing on fresh air and exercise. So today get outside- maybe take a walk, even if it’s just around the block. Just get outside in the fresh air and move your body – be it walking , running , cycling etc. It’s a great way of blowing away the cobwebs, so it’s fantastic for our physical, mental and spiritual health 💕.

Self care is giving the world the best of you, rather than what is left of you.

It’s been a hectic couple months here at Little Mis-Fit . In fact this first part of 2019 has just flown by so fast!!. Do you guys think the same?? .

Between work and  birthday celebrations and various other celebrations it’s definitely been pretty full on since the start of the year.

So I have loved last  weekend of having nothing in the diary and just being able to hit the pause button , Once I had finished teaching my Saturday morning class . I felt  so much better for it too. .

It’s so important, even more so when you are in a busy season to make sure you are taking time for yourself each day , just to catch your breath and recharge your batteries . We charge our phones daily , so be sure to do the same for yourself! . .

I’ve actually started writing on my daily to do list – my own workout , time for meditation and time to read. These are three things that I find when I incorporate them in to my day, help me find balance and calm. When they are on your list or in your diary , it helps you incorporate them into your day better too.

So this week be sure to add something you love to do on your own list and that you know will go a long way in helping you find some balance and calm in your day – though I’m not talking about that glass of wine or two mind guys!! 🤣, . Maybe make time to catch up with a friend, or do your own workouts. Maybe curl up with your book or take a walk or a long bath . Get your hair/nails etc done . Just something that makes you smile and feel content and peaceful.

What are you guys going to include in your self care list this week? 💕. Use our checklist below for inspiration!

I’m loving getting out in the spring sunshine for walks 😄.

Happy Valentines Day!

Happy Valentines Day Mis Fitters!,

I’m currently rocking my new Micky and Minnie T shirt, which I picked up last week from George at Asda!. Its soooooo darn  cute, I love it! .

Regardless of if you are  coupled up  or single, I hope you spend today doing something you LOVE.  It can be as simple as taking the time to curl up with a good book, or to watch your favourite movie or Netflix show. It could be taking a lovely long bubble bath after a day at work.  Maybe meeting a friend for a catch up over lunch or a cup of tea.   Get moving  your body too  –  get outside to take a walk  or take a class . Exercise is such a brilliant mood booster and will help strengthen our hearts!.

Taking the time to look after our mind, body and soul is so, so  important.  When we take the time to look after ourselves , we are reminding ourselves we matter too. It also helps us give our best self to others around us, instead of  burning ourselves out trying to juggle  so many things and finding our own self care dropping further and further down our priority list – hands up if you have also been there!   . So Start treating yourself like your own best friend – after all we spend 24/7 with ourselves so we need to be happy in our own company.  Take note this week too as to how you talk to yourself – would you talk to a friend the  way, you talk to yourself?.  Become your own little cheerleader.

“Think positive Thoughts and they will shine out of your face like moonbeams and you will always look lovely”  Roald Dhal.

So on this day of Love – show all your loved ones how much you care and also include yourself on that list too!.  Love yourself enough to move your body, nourish it with healthier food choices and believe that you can achieve anything you set your mind to.

Use our self care check list as a reminder to take care of yourself too!

Sending you all lots of Valentines love and hugs

My Self Care Pact

Hello guys,

Well its been quite a week here at Little Mis-Fit HQ .  Last week my boiler was condemned – they actually stuck a danger – do not use sticker on it! . To be fair the fact I had to give it a whack every time I wanted it on , did give me a small clue that it was on its way out.  But still a new boiler eek! The up side is I don’t have to whack this one, its much quieter than my old one , which used to sound like it was taking off and also my house is once more nice and toasty – hurrah!.

Last weekend I took a trip to Busy Bee studios in Durham https://busybeestudio.co.uk with my friend Erin – it was so pretty! . she had some gorgeous things. I got some gorgeous smelling Orange Cinnamon candles  – they smell divine and  very festive!.

I did have a little trip up in the loft this week aswell to get some of my autumn/Halloween things down so I could start decorating in the house  .  I’ve also been using my halloween mugs from Tk Maxx – loving those!.

What with boilers , dental check ups – does anyone else get Dentist dread?? 😳.  I had meetings ,  aswell as trying to keep on top of housework , and still juggling the  two jobs  alongside doing a business mentor programme  , it is so easy to get a little overwhelmed –  and I know a lot of you guys are the same – juggling Work/kids/looking after elderly parents –  our own self care does seem to go out the window at times.  So I am making a huge effort  to make sure I am prepping and organising food and eating healthy meals , aiming to get enough sleep ( a work in progress) and fitting in my own workouts aswell as taking a little time out in my week to just be.  I do find though that when I do take time out – my creativity increases and the ideas flow so I know – when I think I am too busy to stop and take a breath and get some time out , that is actually when I need it more than ever!.

Some of my favourite ways to get some self care time are below. I would love to hears yours too!.  Add them in the comments!

💕 Getting outside – I think fresh air is a brilliant tonic for the mind and soul. going for a run or walk or just taking my book in the garden instantly soothes my spirit.

💕 Take time to relax before bed – I am terrible sometimes for working late into the night , but I am trying to cut off by 9pm and doing something other than work related – watch some youtube videos  – loving Grace Denny’s channel – if you love makeup, clothes and TK Maxx and drinking tea – her videos are brilliant! . plus She loves Halloween and Christmas so combined with her love of makeup – I love her ha.  I also love to listen to podcasts too.

💕 Curling up with a book  – I love to read and have done since I was a little girl . So taking time out to curl up and lose myself in a book is heaven – especially if we add a large cup of Lemon and ginger or peppermint tea and a bag of chocolate buttons (shh).

💕 Meeting up with friends –  This is a big one, I think all of you fellow Girl bosses running their own business’s will agree that it can be a lonely journey at times and sometimes  you do get so caught up in work and getting overwhelmed with your to do list and sometimes just talking things through with someone on a similar journey can help you feel much better.

💕 A good Netflix binge –  Or a boxset or Movies 24  – especially when it becomes Christmas 24 (can you tell I’m a bit of a Christmas elf)  . We are currently watching Making a murderer on Netflix  – It is so good!.  if it is just me watching though, I love Good girls – amazing!!!! and Cheasepeake Shores.

💕 Working out – something that often slips down the To Do list when we get busy . I promise though taking even 15 / 20 minutes in your day to get moving – doing a workout – hiit, yoga/pilates,  Dance around your living room, taking a walk – I promise you will feel so much better for it! . exercise really is a brilliant mood booster, it will also help boost your energy levels so you can tackle that to do list more efficiently .  It also helps boost your immune system – something that lowers if we run ourselves down too much.

💕 sleep!.  Making sure we get enough sleep.  Aiming for a good 7-8 hours a night.  It’s when we sleep , that our bodies repair themselves , our cortisol (stress hormone ) levels lower and our energy levels replenish.

So I am making my Self care Pact here – to make sure I look after myself so I can continue to make sure you guys are all looking after yourselves too. Especially as we head into this last quarter and probably the busiest few months of the year!  Comment below with what you are going to aim to do for your own self care pacts!
